Wine List. Holy Canoli

thanks; i found one that would bring it forward from 1915 to 2005, but yours is much better. USD 252.41, currently, it seems. For 12 bottles!! Zachy's has the 2010 Egon Muller schartzhofber Aus on line at $425 per bottle. and that is not even the auction bottling. and the 2010 Montrose shows up there at $216 per bottle.

what a time capsule you found, Michael. thanks.

still would love to know something about the white, sparkling Ducru....

Yes, it is a rather fascinating list, isn't it? What struck me is how little has changed over the last 100 years in how wine geeks store and serve their wines.

Finally, a definition of purity.

OK, the pedant in me comes out again. Evidence for a thing being he case is not the same as a definition of a thing. If you see a horseshoe track, that is evidence that a horse has passed by. It isn't a definition of the horse.

"First, in the Spring, when the sap is rising in the vine, and again in the Autumn, when it falls, a sympathetic movement takes place in the wine."

5443 different bottlings with a median price of 195 (euros?) per bottle, assuming the unlisted price for the Rarität are higher.
How many bottles of a particular wine do you think they have?
The highest listed prices are for the 6 liter versions of the 1988 Lafite-Rothschild and the 2000 Lafite-Rothschild, both at 33000.
