I was not in SF in person last Sunday. I wish I was. But my account has been taken over by Joe's loyal comrades who wish to go on record here, his favorite place on the webz, with their acts of love, appreciation, remembrance and inebriation.

Their reporter on the ground, SFST, contributes as follows.

A summons, heard only by the initiated, gathered a tribe to mourn and honor their beloved elder. No single soul presided. Favorite stories were told and countless special bottles opened. Ancient club garb was revealed. Buster and Mao squinted over wine glasses. Shorts too. Especially shorts.

Well-tuned offerings Huet alongside cheery vin rouge. A certain chef spoiled us, reminding us of previous events here in this clubhouse.

The event went into double overtime. Member after member told me how Joe touched them deeply. As one said, “Joe meant a great deal to me. I can’t imagine I meant as much to him as he did to me.” He is, of course, terribly wrong Joe’s friends are everything to him. The very air he breathed. His most precious gift to all of us.

From its founding six years ago, Terroir was one of Joe’s favorite places on earth. An apt place to begin to move forward. Retell the stories and start a few new ones.

I was another who couldn't. The mind was willing, but the demands.. Thanks for the write up, Sasha. Between these and the FB photos I feel almost as if I were there.

Hate to have missed the time in the city. Only a serious family event kept us away.
It was at an off line in SF almost twenty years ago that I met SF Joe when he actually resided in The City. I cannot express how much I'l miss him.

Joe would have been pleased to know that not even a memorial service can stop his friends from arguing which bottles were poxed, corked, or just weird. Great to see everyone that night.

I've got nothing to do with this. I am still tied to a chair, typing with my nose. They were pouring volcanic chenin into my mouth until I gave up the password.

Great to see. I've only been to Terroir once so far, five years ago, but, as luck would have it, Joe was also in town and I met him and SF denizens Slaton and Arjun there and got to meet the Terroir crew. Good times.

Funny, same thing happened to me on my only visit to Terroir in 2010. Showed up on business and guess who happened to be in town. And then the fat guy showed up as well.

It was a fine time. It was really nice to see everyone in one place. It was a great and pleasant surprise to see Guilhaume (I can't believe I'm admitting that on a public forum) and to finally meet fatboy.

Thanks for the photos and writeup, not-.sasha. It was really great to see everyone.
Insert comment about better circumstances here.
