CULINARY DELIGHTS

WINES:

Paul Pillot Chassagne-Montrachet Clos St. Jean 1er Cru '09 -- Pale yellow, shy scents, apples, tropical fruits, more aggressive on palate, smooth profile, nice richness and acidity, balance, youthful. [E]

Louis Jadot Puligny-Montrachet Clos de la Garenne Domaine du Duc de Magenta 1er Cru '05 -- Medium yellow, apples and tropical fruits (again), some toastiness, light oak treatment, nice roundness. [VG - E]

Domaine Dujac Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 1er Cru '05 -- Dark red, still a bit tight, dark fruits, maybe some plums and cherries, good density of flavors, some earth, complex, still integrating. [E]

Domaine Clos de Tart Grand Cru '03 -- Dark red, solid black fruit notes, lush bouquet, deep and dense structure but nicely approachable, good balance, tannins/acidity offset by solid core of fruit, masculine, maybe near peak but won't go away. [E]

Warren, I got a late start; thus, sorry, I didn't sample the reception wines.

I heard murmurs that the Puligny was quite good.

Perhaps (?) the silence on the Bouzeron was an indication that it was something less than wonderful (as I would have expected). I wish I had tried it.

I really enjoyed the 2010 in February and was curious how a riper vintage fared but thank you Pete!
