An Apology from the Politburo

Politburo

Administrator
It has come to the attention of several in the Politburo that while most were curled up with a bottle of vodka over the past weekend that one member of the Politburo was abusing his administrative powers to inappropriately alter the text of at least one disorderist. The Politburo member responsible for this promptly turned himself in, and we are in the process of altering this persons administrative powers so there will not be a repeat performance. We apologize to all involved, and we sincerely hope this does not happen again.

Mucking around in the posts of others by use of administrative powers is a serious matter. We apologize to Joe Perry and to anyone else that experienced this. The Politburo person involved has been relegated to a very popular wine-and-gardening forum for some very quiet rehabilitation and rest. We do not intend to try to restore all posts as they were before the editing occurred, and we do not intend to conduct public tribunals to assess blame. Instead, we intend to continue to work to make this forum the least profitable and most lightly read wine board on the internet.

We also ask everyone to remember that these are strange, sad days for many, with many people who post here facing various forms of economic dislocation and with some facing serious illness. There have been some other unfortunate threads on this board in recent days, some with regrettable personal comments, and some with regrettable replies to regrettable personal comments. Please try to take the long view when possible. We know thats not always easy to do.

If you experience any other problems with administrative editing, please email us.

We will not be taking any questions from the press today.

One of the reasons I left WCWN and came to Wine Therapy a couple of years ago was that they had a buffoon with administrative powers who was altering my posts there.

The buffoon still has administrative powers but I am no longer a victim.

My thanks to the Politburo. I did not want anyone to have administration rights changed, but the apology is appreciated. The politburo member and I have a history of bickering. I am not without blame.

In case people are wondering, I decided to delete the tasting notes that I reposted. I post notes with the intention that people will view them as fun and cheeky, but this incident changed the spirit of that into something serious and crude. That said, I want this to blow over as painlessly as possible. I plan to continue posting here and hope everyone else does too.

Best,
Joe

Re: Reposted Notes

Brad, kudos to you for a well-executed riposte regarding your request to return removed reposts!

It serves as a fine example for us all.
