Joh Jos Prum Bernkasteler Badstube Riesling Spatlese '07 -- Medium golden, citrus/apple/peach notes, some flowers and petrol, medium acid backbone, lovely mouthfeel, elegance/balance/harmony, delicious. [E]
E Guigal Condrieu '09 -- Clear medium yellow, aromatic, lovely fruits, apples/peaches, some flowers, full and round profile with ample acidity, mild oak/vanilla notes, nothing not to like. [E]
Comte Senard Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru '04 -- Medium yellow, slight volatile acidity, dry fruits, hints of madeirization that seemed to abate, good complexity, light structure, atypical bottle. [NR]
Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape '89 -- Medium dark red, voluptuous bouquet, leather, dark fruits, light gaminess, exquisite and even finesseful, both silkiness and velvet, beautiful complexity, terrific showing of this wonderful bottling. [O]
Chateau Haut-Brion '89 -- Dark red, blackberry fruits, complex aromatics, deep and captivating, nimbleness belies its strength and resiliency, nicely complex, quite refined and fresh, solid core of fruit, tannins largely in abeyance, gained appeal in the glass (if that's possible). [O]
Domaine Armand Rousseau Pere et Fils Chambertin Clos de Beze '85 -- Initially medium red that seemed to get darker, impressive red fruits, classic Burgundy bouquet, still good body, all components viable, soft fruits offset integrated tannins, some silkiness to texture, delicious treat. [E - O]
Les Clos de Paulilles Banyuls Rimage '00 -- Dark inky, complex fruits, smooth bouquet, maybe some cinnamon, good weight and flavors, chewy almost thick texture that's not cloying, alcohol in abeyance, good complexity and balance, good appeal that makes one want more. [E]
