pdh chinatown

pdh chinatownoutside of the peking duck, what do you order?

Based on only 2 visits, my answer is, as I was warned but ignored, definitely nothing else. I've not been to Pings, but I trust Jay.

The Peking Duck at Ping's is also very good. $10 corkage. Crispy silverfish (esp. with sparkling wine), 2 duck tongue preps, duck breast, oxtail, soups, all good.

Whatever you do don't get the beef roll with mushroom sauce. Worst dish on the menu. Anything that looks sweet should be avoided as well.

Dumplings are so-so.

Crispy silverfish
Candidate for the worst name of a dish.

Delicious dish however. Perfect with fino sherry.

All of the food I've had at PDH besides the duck itself has been disappointing. That said, they've never charged me corkage at the Chinatown location!

ok, I know that many winos eat on the regular at the pdh, loving as they do its byo policy. but, this is a crappy restaurant. the duck, the only reason this shit-show exists, is terrible. the pancakes are fine, the hoisin is a misery (thin, watered down, macdonalds-esque) and the meat is just a fatty mess. and, the duck was the highlight of the meal.

just fucking horrible.

Chinatown or midtown? The midtown one has gone through phases from mediocre to quite good.

I still prefer Ping's though the midtown PDH is quieter and has more comfortable seating. Which counts for a lot more with me than perhaps it should.

Other than that, how did you like it?
