WINES:
Sine Qua Non In the Abstract '12 -- Medium pale yellow, complex fruits, floral notes, generous bouquet, solid on palate, some waxiness, tropical fruits, noticeable alcohol that mostly well buffered, full body, lots going on with this wine. [E]
Rudd Susan's Blanc Mt. Veeder '09 -- Medium yellow, fleeting grassiness, crisp fruitiness, round, quite full, Semillon blend lends good richness, more like a Chardonnay given the small percentage of Sauvignon Blanc, delicious and enjoyable. [E]
Dr. Konstantin Frank Finger Lakes Riesling '13 -- Light yellow, bracing fruitiness, light aromatics, fairly light on palate as well, medium sweetness, nothing not to like but on the other hand not a lot to embrace, rather stony and light weight in character. [VG]
Chateau Montrose '96 -- Dark red, classic Claret bouquet, cigar box, dark fruits, earth, dark berries, solid core of fruit, tightly knit, a rather muscular/backward style, underlying tannins gradually gave way, lots of structure, good balance, hard to judge its evolutionary status, a good candidate for current enjoyment. [E]
Bouchard Volnay 1er Cru Caillerets Ancienne Cuvée Carnot '99 -- Dark red, bright cherry fruits, generous Burgundy bouquet, complex on palate, kept on keeping on, all the right elements and in balance, ample tannin/acid backbone along with the good fruit, pretty much all one would ever want from an excellent 1er Cru. [E]
Royal Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos '08 -- Golden yellow, effusive bouquet, honey spices, apricots, and lots more, more of the same on the palate, not cloying but solid dense structure, uplifting, quite concentrated with impressive plumpness and tension, superb. [E]
