XP: Anybody interested in 20 best drummers?

Agree with you on Mr. Baker, but Bruford (like Peart) sounds more like a technician than a musician most of the time. I appreciate and understand his talent, but I don't tend to enjoy listening to it more than once.

Hmmm, his work in the 80s edition of King Crimson seemed joyous and musical to me; check out some of the live stuff from the Belew/Levin/Fripp/Bruford era on YouTube. Of course, Belew makes everything look like fun.

Jack DeJohnette?

This

This, again

Jack is amazing. He's a terrific pianist, too. Last time I saw him was a couple of years ago for his 70th Birthday Celebration at Yoshi's. A trio consisting of him, Chick Corea on acoustic piano, and Stanley Clarke on stand-up bass. A very fine night of music.

OOooooh....

Krupa's musicality shines through his mechanics, but Rich's technique is overwhelming:
(some nice hoofing by Mr. Davis, who was a pretty fair drummer himself)

I am still operating under the theory that Pete is actually Chris Coad, or maybe fatboy.

Yes, the list is awful. You could add a million jazz drummers. Billy Kreutzman tears it up on the newly released DP13, btw.

Numbered lists.

Drill a hole in my head and pour in sewage.

This is the pointy-i-zation of music. Maybe we should make them all compete and then eliminate them one-by-one with snarky, pompous criticisms by some pop idols and some other mannerless, abusive idiots who have barely contributed anything of value to humanity. Then let's move on to chefs. And painters! Hell, let's make everything that should be joyous, creative and unbounded competitive and cause for dehumanizing derision.

Lists have led me to loathe Rolling Stone.
