The 08 is starting to really hit its stride.

This was such a frustrating vintage. For me, anyway. I had one mindblowing bottle, followed by five that had varying levels of fucked-upness. Glad this was a good one.

Brad, have you braved any '09 Beaujolais recently?
Or maybe you just sold them all which I could understand.

We tried a 2009 Brun Fleurie tonight and it was really enjoyable. Very pretty nose.
It still had some of the vintage thickness and tannins but a few hours of air gave me some hope for the bottles of '09 I have in the closet.

Maybe false hope, who knows.

The 09s I've tried have been terrific. We had the 09 Brun Fleurie lately as well as CdB, both totally fantastic. I think 09 will be as hoped, I'm aiming on about five years or so, but as you say it's actually coming out of its shell now.

I've had issues with the 09 Lapierre as we've discussed and moved on quite a bit, as well as the Romaine, which I just don't care for (the normale was bretty).

I have a theory that Matthieu toned down the SO2 and the bottles coming via the Canal suffered. We've had a bit of a brett issue out this way of late. At least Seattle, which gets its own container.

93 tonight is just hitting its stride. maybe even beginning to relax into it. bojo for people who hate people saying bojo.

by way of contrast, 84 lopez de h tondonia is an exercise in süssreserve (and its effects -- a seminar brought to you by winedisorder, ted and teh syriza party); and yet for all its volatile, funky whackness, it is a drink. sort of.
