RTN: Bordeaux Bash

There's a coolness hierarchy that makes blogs cooler or less cool than websites?

Understand I live in the provinces and am behind on these things.

And though there be less um on a website, there does seem to be an inordinate amount of pussyfooting, wouldn't you say?

I would say that would very much depend on your definition of 'inordinate.'

Well, I've got both, so I feel qualified to comment authoritatively. And the answer, obviously, is 23.

I suggest Brad have his own site to archive his notes rather than using a public forum.

This is why I post my CWDs on the best blog in the universe.

VLM,
I like your blog, but I am confused about something (well, many things, but that is besides the point). If blogs are the best place to post TNs or CWDs, what is the purpose of Wine Disorder? Should WD be a place for bigger topics than what wine xyz tasted like, or drink vs hold? What about visits to cellars, or jeebus reports, or big tastings?
I suspect VLM's biggest objection comes from the age of the notes. Unless they come accompanied by many pretty photographs of New Zealand, the utility of 8 year old notes about wines that live 3 or 4 years seems low to some.

But not to others. Although a ten year old note on, say, a '96 Brun Beaujolais Nouveau would seem of little use if looked at narrowly, it could certainly give you a sense of the producer's track record and way of working given various vintage conditions, good and bad and in between. Notes from every year of the nineties would do that even better.

I'm afraid there are no more of New Zealand. Australia? Yeah, I've got those. They're only 3 1/2 years old, though.

Don't let anyone stampede you.

No, no, that's the South Africa trip, where we walked with wildebeests. And those aren't even a month old, yet. There's plenty of time, and when we've all moved to Wine Anarchy or Wine Chaos I'm sure I'll still be posting them.

Do you have any pictures of Maori transvestites in hot tubs?

Stop that sexy talk, now.

That I understand, but I don't want to discourage Kane from doing his thing, even if I don't like it reading the old notes myself.

I was asking more about the VLM using his blog for tasting notes rather then posting them here. For example, if I didn't click on his link today, I might have missed his useful assessment of the 2004 Carema. The blogs are out there and they won't go away. Personally, I wouldn't mind reading VLM's and Sharon's and others notes here.

No one is being forced to reread anyone's reposted notes if they don't want to. There's no gun to anyone's head so long as VLM isn't in the room. But, some people do like to see old notes. I know I do.

I hadn't seen that note on '04 Carema white label. I had it the other night at Cendrillon, and I couldn't agree more. Fantastic wine, drinking beautifully.

See this is what I'm talking about. Meta.

Someone actually reads Sharon's blog?

Blwood didn't even know it existed.

It's masturbatory and clutters the bored with OLD SHIT.

I'm all about what is happening NOW.

You have no idea where I am at any time. I could be walking into Astor right behind you this afternoon.

I just read the first page of her blog. Hey, I am bookmarking that blog!

Are you paying Sharon in wine or cash to link to the VLM-TR?

I'm all about what is happening NOW.

Me too. That's very Heraclitus of you.

But wait, isn't that somewhat contrary to your anti-relativist view of the world that allows you to establish a strict numerical ranking of everything? I mean once you assign a wine it's rank in the wine pantheon, you'd never have to revisit or experience it again, you could just look back for it's old number.

In your archives.

Heh. Someone who "blogs" calls someone else out for being masturbatory. Irony much?

Not exactly, I've blocked your IP address so you can't watch.
