2013 Briods: acid mineral wash. Can't get enough. Genius. Why age it when it tastes like this? Mouthwatering.

2013 Knoll Riesling Schutt: very, very stoney. Not mineral in the same way as Briords (had this immediately after, poor wine) but deeply pitched. Earthy and herbal. Fruit in the background. Great expression of this site.

Lahaye Blanc de Noirs: grippy, dep and succulent. Really liked this.

2005 Baudry Croix Boissée: OK, finally starting to act civilized. I wouldn't call it prime window yet, but after a couple hours of being open, it was decently behaved. Starting to round into secondary notes with the tannins giving way to complexity without dropping its lovely fruit.

2005 Baudry Grézeaux: fuck yeah. That is all.

2008 Picq Dessus Carriere: earthy, mineral but with rich fruit for Chablis. This is always the fruitiest of Picqs wines. Out of magnum and drinking great. You can age it more if you want.

Lahaye Violaine: was really excited about this given the BdN, but it was a bit of a letdown. Nice enough, but given that it is 2x$ the BdN, I was really hoping for more. Drunk at the same time as the Selosse, so maybe paled in comparison.

Selosse Initiale (2013 disgorgement): I want to start hating Selosse but I just can't. It really is like Batard with bubbles. Large, forceful, seamless.

2002 Chevillon Vaucrains: cork stained half way up, bought on secondary market. Still, showed nice deep fruit and that dark stone graphite type minerality that Vaucrains exhibits. Deep. Pristine bottles are probably another 3-5 away, this opened nicely if not entirely.

2002 Geantet-Pansiot Poissenots: gorgeous sappy fruit, minerals a bit of woodsiness. I've always had a soft spot for this vineyard at the top of the Gevrey Combe and this producer whose pinot fin based wines are under appreciated.

1992 Tempier La Migoua: mostly tertiary notes with all the tannins melted away. Really cool top note of lavender and a nice firmness and acidity on the palate. Very pretty and a nice surprise.

1966 Trotanoy: holy umami dogshit, Batman. The best bottle of this I've had. Bits of fruit clinging to life cosseted by notes of underbrush, dried spices, earth and a myriad of other things. Really filled your head, but not big or preposterous. SFJoe opened my first bottle of aged Trotanoy for me and I'll never forget that night at Apiary, along with many other moments.

You are drinking some of your wine seriously way too old. What's going on with you?

These were the only wines that didn't violate the rule of 15 and only one was mine.

This sounds better behaved than that nasty acid-bath 04 that I had last fall.

Violaine was one of the best Champagnes I drank last year. Sorry to hear yours was disappointing. Don't recall if vintage or disgorgement data was provided, but my btl was from the lot sold by Chambers a year ago, ish.

The Pansiot wines have come across a little spoofy to me when young, but I've enjoyed them with 10+ yrs in bottle. I like his holdings as well. A recent '99 Charmes was very nice and surprisingly ready.

I'm not going near my 05 Baudrys yet, but appreciate the look.

The 04 Grezeaux was recently oh so nice and complex.

Ditto both on opinion, date and place of purchase.

I've heard this and it was on Sophie's advice that I bought these. They are direct from the distributor and the current release.

I just found that the wine lacked tension and intensity. As it was just over $100 wholesale, I expected more it wasn't that it was bad, just disappointing in context of price and how much I enjoyed the BdN.

The 2004 has been a super confusing wine. Maybe the most confusing Baudry ever. It's been a while since I've had a bottle. Maybe I'll have one this month to check in.

2004 Grezeaux is dope. So is just about every vintage.

Yeah, I often hear this and just don't get it. The vegetal material is much better than most "un-spoofed" Burgundies. What is unusual about Geantet is the early bottling and the accentuation of fruit in the wines. I dig it and and happy that I'm in the minority, it keeps the prices down, relatively.

I agree with this. But the wines are usually too big, ripe and fruity for my taste when young. I feel the same way about most syrah.

'70 trot blew me away last week, VLM.
Could not guess the wine. Tasted more like a great 75 pomerol (but not like 75 trot).
