2011 Oddero, Langhe Nebbiolo has a nose of dried leaves and iron. Good weight and fairly astringent in the mouth with tiny red berries of some sort peeking through a wash of tannin. Great with dinner. Big wine but also delicate. I'm lost when it comes to Italy but this was delicious now with food.
Back in the comfort zone--it's been years, but: 2011 Jadot, Chateau des Jacques, Moulin-A-Vent is labeled as Red Burgundy Wine and it really does come across as such. There is a whiff of reduction on the nose that says hey, don't forget this is gamay, but overall the feel is Burgundian. Really a nice wine but hard for me to peg as Beaujolais.
I usually try to avoid wines bottled in February but it's easy to make an exception: 2014 Domaine de la Pepiere, Muscadet has kind of grassy, tropical aromas, great texture and mouth watering acidity. Was really pleased to see a light fizz when the cork was pulled. So fresh, bright and alive. Will hold off on further bottles for a few months until the wine has had time to digest its sulfites. $11.99 folks. $11.99.
