can someone reccomend shops for first editions and out of print cooking, food, drinks, related books? i know kitchen arts and letters but was hoping for something in lower manhattan.

thanks in advance.

I've bought some great out-of-print cookbooks at Bonnie Slotnick and Joanne Hendricks. I love the pizza at Franny's although the East Village Motorino might be more convenient.

Have never been to Franny's. Will have to rectify that on the next visit.

Hit Joanne Hendricks today. Great suggestion. Was able to round out my Patience Grey collection with some pretty hard to find early works.

Thanks for the tip. Highly reccomended and Joanne is a pleasure to chat with.

i have been to roberta's only once. i found the pizza to be just OK; very much not vaux le voyage. decent wine list but nothing compared to Franny's. and I agree with Ben that Motorino's pizza is superb. last i went though, the wine list was almost as bad as Keste.

Which early works from Patience Gray did you round your collection out with?

I was really pleased to find a copy of French Cheeses by Kazuko Masui and Tomoko Yamada at Bonnie Slotnick over the weekend.

"Plats du Jour", patience grey and primrose boyd. illustrated paperback

"Ringdoves and Snakes"
