Speaking of Ganevat

Had the '10 Julien (PN) last night; in a beautiful place at the moment. If the bottle is representative, seems like a good time to check in on this if you have any.

Hmmm.... I'm still sitting on my '08 and '09, the former of which was hell of impressive when young.

oh yes; that '08 was so beautiful, if tight, when young. i've opened one or two in the past year and it is still beautiful, but seems like it has yet more to offer; the '10 last night seemed a bit more "ready".
i don' think i've had the '09, but i should check to see if it is in the warehouse.

This is the Poulsard for those not paying attention to the Ganevat line up. This bottle was just OK; no flaws to speak of, and clean (i.e., not refermenting or bacterial), but the flavor was less vibrant and persistent than his usual (for good bottles).

2009 Marnes Bleues was singing last night, along with some squid. It took the wine quite some time in the decanter, maybe 2-3hrs.

and thanks Cliff -- your post inspired me to venture off into Chardonnay-land for lunch. (My lunch today seemed not quite special enough for the savagnin.) The '08 Chalasse VV is stunning. Not Marnes Bleues stunning, but so amazingly good for Chardonnay.
