It's old. Simple. Maybe good with some bread. Shows a bit more breeding than a Jadot Beaujolais Village of similar vintage. The bottle does look much better though.

Did you go to VIF tonight?
Shawn sold me a bottle of Roagna Dolcetto recently, it was delicious.
Good weather for a Cab Franc tasting.

Wow. 21 year old dolcetto. I'm serving Giacosa barbera d'alba 2005 out of mags tonight for Passover, and that wine, based on how it performed last month at our 30th anniversary, is already showing competely mature, if not, in fact, a bit of downhill slope.

Mr Rosenthal on older Dolcetto: http://rosenthalwinemerchant.com/?p=523

I love the Roagna but usually gulp it down. I've hung on to a bottle or two of some vintages for a little while but liked it younger.

I have sometimes found the Brovia that Rosenthal references blocky and not very forthcoming when young. Never aged it because I've ended up just buying more Roagna.

Whoa, that first bottle was opened right off the truck - a second bottle was way better, really delightful. Definitely needed to be drunk fairly quickly, but pours out of the bottle were great, nuanced, and very refreshing.
