1981 Lafon Rochet

VLM's post prompted me - had this earlier this week. This started off seemingly dead but a little air brought it to life and was quite lovely. "Burgundian" came to mind for me also. Great balanced acids, refreshing, very alive. Luckily bought a few bottles for not very many $$. I'm really done with expensive wine when you can enjoy stuff like this.

Whenever I have a wine like this I wonder why I don't have more. Glad to hear about the 1981, a vintage I've had pretty good luck with from Bordeaux.

81 is a fave actually. Probably shouldn't say that on the board.

I will say I think the average wine drinker would not like it very much, but that's fine with me.

One of my first "serious " wine purchases was 6 bottles of Lafon Rochet 1995 for my daughters birth year.

Looks like that will end up being an excellent purchase.
