I really enjoy Arlequin every time I'm there. They have a lot of cool wines. Plus a little cafe, all blended together, and a nice courtyard.

And it only costs $5 (on top of retail) to open anything and it enjoy it there.

Sorry, couldn't help it.

I must pile on. This is a great place. And stocked not only with great wines, but also with affable and knowledgeable folk.

Last year I had lunch at Arlequin on my way to the airport. I left a library book that I had been reading and they were kind enough to FedEx it back to me at home in Carolina. Good customer service!

(Admittedly it was my wife's FedEx account, but still...)

My favorite story of that ilk was when Joe left this book at Willi's Wine Bar on a trip to Paris. He was using his business card as a bookmark and got this message from the owner, Mark Williamson:

Hello,

A book that hardly qualifies for the norm in 'bar reading material' was left at Willi's last night. This scintillating oeuvre had your business card in it on page 175 & I thought it worth informing you, just in case the book was yours. If you would like to claim it or possibly identify the person to whom the book belongs, please inform me as soon as is convenient - or ring Willi's on 0142610509.

Bien cordialement,
Mark

Joe confirmed it was his and asked a followup question:

It’s not normal, this reading?

Mark opined:

Malaria should be discussed over Gin, not Saint Joseph, surely?

Good story.

My other half is always reading things that need, um, alternative drink. He just finished "A Hangman's Diary: The Journal of Master Franz Schmidt, Public Executioner of Nuremberg, 1573-1617" by Albrecht Keller. Perhaps a Last Word?

The wine director is an insufferable Xavier fan though.
