a little reading

Bertrand Celce has published some great articles lately: a wistful visit to CRB for the last vintage, a lengthy writeup (with many tastings) of a visit to Baudry, and an intellectual visit with A&O DeMoor.

And from that last article, I clicked through to an email exchange between Olivier and Michel Bettane, in which the famous critic actually resorted to the hoariest of chestnuts: "...la vérité étant dans le verre..."

Celce is one of those happy, undeserved suprises in life that help you to accept with aplomb all the parking tickets and dog-poop-on-shoes episodes that come your way.

How often do either of those things happen to you?

I haven't had the dog poop thing since I was a kid (hopefully not jinxing myself) and learned how to watch where I walk. Parking tickets also pretty rare (1 in the past 5 years).

I suspect you don't raise chickens in the Pork Belt? Careful where you step!

Love all the smiles in the CRB pictures. Kind of makes everything seem okay.

I'll also add the Clos Siguier as one especially worth reading.

Wine Terroir is the second bookmark, below only Wine Disorder, on my computer.

De temps en temps. I have a f*%&king $40 ticket pending now - 3 minutes late. That's a bottle of Ile de Vergelesses. Shit also happens now and then.

I almost wish Thor would pop back in every so often and tell you not to be so literal, but I guess it's part of the curse of having a fine mind.
