CWD: 1990 Bertheau Chambolle-Musigny

Opened on a Tuesday night just because.

This was a recent purchase with a fill just low enough to be worrying. The cork comes out in a mere two pieces. This is the sort of wine that makes you turn the stereo down, it speaks so softly. The nose is pure sous-bois, and the palate initially offers up nothing more than a silken, mature, slightly diffuse Chambolle-ness. With a little time, the details come into focus and the finish lengthens, and this asserts itself as small, beautiful wine. So yeah, drink 'em if you got 'em.

The 1990 and 1991 Bertheau Bonnes-Mares are also sliding into a good place. No problems with fragmenting corks, but perhaps more appropriate for weekend drinking than a "just because" Tuesday night.

-Eden (unless it's a really special Tuesday night, in which case, why wouldn''t you be drinking Roumier or Mugnier?)
