Can you explain this? I feel like this is a case of reverse hipsterization. We États-uniens crowned their wines with laurels while in France no wine store carried them; one could only find the gamay, for 6 euros, at organic supermarket chain Naturalia until just a smidge of years ago (mid-2011 was last check performed).

I remember that. It was always a source of internal chuckles for me, both because you could not find CRB elsewhere and because the rest of the Naturalia selection was forgettable and not worth purchasing. I used to go in for salt, lentils, sometimes prunes, and then get sidetracked into CRB.

A few weeks before our last visit I was checking what Paris stores were showing on wine-searcher and struck gold at vins et milesimes, where they often get collections that go in and out fast, like Chambers. They didn't value them highly, costing in the single digits.
