Riedel v. Hosemaster

Just another reason Riedel is being abandoned in favor of Zalto

-Eden (the attorney letter lends credence to the ida that people who live in glashutten shouldn't throw stones)

I marvel at what some lawyers will write on behalf of clients. and i guess sometimes baseless threatening letters work, but they seem immoral to me. (I am not aware of sanctions being available for the sending of baseless threatening letters, but there are sanctions for frivolous, baseless law suits.)

But lets face it, the letter from Riedel is funnier than anything Hosemaster has ever written.
The thought did cross my mind that HM was being trolled. But, that law firm is legit and, indeed, Riedel is their client, etc.

I guess it's just a rich guy thinking he can yell at people and they'll stop making fun of him.

Because it was published on Tim Atkins's site, Washam's "satire" is subject to the far more expansive UK libel laws in which there is no provision for satire. Thanks to Thor for pointing this out.

UK changed the libel laws in 2013. I think you are right that Riedel might still have had grounds there (and the number of libel suits didn't go down, as they were supposed to do in 2014). Still, I would describe this as a mutual climbdown.
