And how about the Jambon? I remember some positive buzz about him but I only got off-bottles (even in France), so I gave up.

Obrigado, guys! Starting this Sunday I will become entitled to special parking spots, preferential lines at the bank and free bus passes, an onset of pampering guaranteed to make me even more insufferable. Jeff, I had to put on my hearing aids to read you.

Of the two Leroys, Slaton, I only tried the 2007, which was lovely, entirely without that oxidative thingy the Montbenaults can show. But relatively straightforward, without any of the bamboozling wowness that distinguished the Silex and the Trebbiano. I've liked the 2006 Leroy even better than the 2007 in the past, more round and fruity without cloyness/cloyhood. The Chateau Chalon was deep and rich and multilayered, as expected of course, but I taste vin jaunes so rarely that I have no internalized baseline for comparative evaluations.

The Jambon, Rahsaan, was (I am sorry to say, given your experience), simply spectacular, one of the evening's highlights, possibly wotn. That semi-carbonic aromatic charm was firing on all cylinders, and was followed by an amazing mouthful of joy, combining equal measures and multiple layers of long-finishing fun and pleasure. The faithless among ye will suspect that I exaggerate, but it doesn't appear that way to me.

Which birthday gets you senior privileges down there? I hit my US mark in France, which is the way to do it, since they think nothing of that birthday.

Wow. That is impressive. Especially given all the other contenders in the list.
