Clos Roche Blanche: final round

Had her chardonnay pet-nat last summer and it was fantastic.

Opened a '14 Pif last night. Just wow. That is what good wine tastes like.

Does anyone else make a pineau d'aunis reminiscent of l'Arpent? Can't say I've found one.

Puzelat's has the moves, without the depth.

I enjoy Puzelat but find it more savory than Arpent.

To me Arpent has a combination of fecund and floral that is uniquely trance-inducing.
 
I have one lone remaining bottle of 2005 Belliviere Rouge-Gorge which was a tannic brute in its youth and frankly undrinkable (for me, anyway).

I thought it might still need a few years to soften, but lurkers claim it's starting to crack up. Anyone drank this recently?

By coincidence I drank this last night. My bottle was shot. Old wine aromas, soy sauce and some VA, not appealing. Some black pepper left but no fruit.

The 05 vv eparses last week is still going strong though.
 
There are more doing similar along the Loir and Cher tributuaries.

In Anjou, Pineau tends to darker expressions.

I have two bottles of the "Louis Derre" bottling. I wonder whether they are ready? (All I really remember about them is that David Lillie apologized to me when I bought them....)
 
2014 Pineau d'Aunis Rosé - also very ripe, at 13.5% abv, it is spritzy and fussy amid its viscous weight. An angry thing right now; needs to be shaken and told to calm the fuck down. Probably better with time, I mean.

I've now had a spritzy bottle of the 2014 rosé - just like Sharon's. My first bottle of the 2014 Pif was terrific, so juicy. Seemed more powerful than the 12% abv.

I should have posted this note (such as it is) here, instead of in the daily drinkers thread:

I finally found my small cache of 2009 Clos Roche Blanche Cot and opened one. It's brilliant, both literally and figuratively. The color is so vibrant, you could be happy just gazing at the wine in the glass. On drinking, it's lithe, vivacious, balanced and charming. What good wine.

Third day out, the fruit had mostly receded, but the tannins were still firm.
