Domaine Thierry Allemand for sale?

Brézème

Eric Texier
It seems that Thierry Allemand is going to retire soon...

Well if any of you guys is willing to invest in Cornas and needs a grower/winemaker to take care of the whole thing, let me know :)))))

I suppose the estate will end in some big guy's hands that will chase points and that Gonon's syrah will triple its value very fast.

Sad news. Merde.

And, more seriously, this is indeed terrible news. As Eric says, this sale will attract a big-money player who will say the right things and then do all the wrong things.

Well, M. Allemand is free to sell to whomever he wants, not merely the highest bidder. Perhaps, as with Trollat's vines, a sympathetic vigneron will be found, I dunno. My sadness at hearing of his retirement is tempered by the knowledge that his wines have been priced out of my budget for a few years now, so it will have little practical impact on my wine buying. Of course, wines on the secondary market will do the Gentaz/Verset pricing spiral, but again they are already out of reach for me.

Point well taken. The few bottles in my stash are getting into Rule of 15 territory.

I guess the few bottles of 11 Allemande I got, just doubled in price. Maybe we cold have an Allemande auction with the proceeds going to Eric :-)

To my surprise, it is said that the total acreage is around 10ha! This is huge, if true. Therefore, without old stocks of wine this should go for around 10 000 000...

Eric, I though he had more plots, including some not in Cornas AOC, and also a few fallow plots above GG's near the top.
