Elaine loves this Champagne and it was the first time I'd tried it. Feminine and lacy - all Pinot Meunier, I'm told. Very pretty.
The 2010 Vatan suits my taste in Chavignol. A recent 2007 was too dominated by boxwood/cat pee aromas and flavors; this was ripe, complete and very long.
Barthod wines are always firm and this was no exception - but in a decanter it opened in breadth and became memorable. No hurry to open but, should you, the decanter is your friend.

If I were to pick a Burgundy producer after whom I would ask others to model (not duplicate) their efforts, it might just be Barthod. Always delicious, interesting, though provoking.
