Anyone ever tried Gitton Pouilly Fume?

BTW, not that anyone cares, but this was the 2010, not 2000.

I was thinking your note sounded remarkable for a 15-year old Chasselas... Sauvignon Blanc...white grape wine.

Drinking the 14 Gitton Sancerre Les Herses Silex right now and shit it's good. Approaching GC complexity.

in jacqueline frederich's 2011 book on just sancerre and pouilly (earthly delights from the garden of france) she describes the wines of gitton thusly. . . . "despite evidence of distinctive raw material, there's a sameness in most of the wines, as well as a sense of dilution and lack of structure". the chantalouettes bottling is not mentioned.

Is that a good book? I had planned to buy it but got sidetracked. It's only on Sancerre and Pouilly?

i find the book invaulable. yes, just pouilly and sancerre and satellites, so it goes as far as chateaumeillant and coteaux genois. it was jacqueline (plus schildknecht) that steered me to pierre morin and claude riffault. the writeups on the producers and their wines are detailed and informative.

jacqueline has plans (or in the past has had plans) for books on the middle loire and on the nantais, but 8 years later nothing has been forthcoming. i emailed here some years back inquiring about when they would be published, and i recall something about a hard drive crash with no back up.
