NWR: What did you read this past summer, that wasn't Jonathan Franzen?

Who doesn't love Berenstain?

Well, now that I'm an adult reading them to my son, the retrograde 1950s view of gender relations (despite being written well after the 50s) is pretty shocking and definitely not something to love. So I have to edit the prose on the fly.

But, the pictures are nice!

I've got this lined up after Piketty. Can't wait!

I have to get that. Huge elvis fan here. Saw him from 4th row at the warner theater, his "my aim is true" tour and several times since, most recently a three hour show with emmylou harris. The guy is a genius with great taste.

Spent two weeks out in the field, careless at keeping up with the bored. Figured on not missing too much, everyone being game but rather hung over in the wake. Big mistake; catching up with the last two weeks' glorious burst of good-ole-days activity made me feel like a leaf of lettuce in a spinner. Boys and girls, you really are a treasure.

Still the King. Saw him recently (if 2013 is recently) with the Who at the old Felt Forum. The show was as good as I remember back the first time I saw him in 1981.

hey that ticket is marred, the serial numbers don't match. I saw Elvis back then at school but I think it was in the Fall of 1980, but I have no ticket to prove it.

Rudy sold me the ticket. But I was there!!!

Quilts'n Squeeze: an awesome combo. Get cozy!

I didn't see them either - there is something mythic about them. I actually wasn't sure the actually existed, but Jason seems credible, and perhaps he can share his memories with us.
