TN: this and that and the other

Two in the cellar with Jay:

Dom. Gouges 1996 Nuits-St-Georges - tight and tough on Day 1 though maybe it's easing open after an hour... nope, even several days later it's still hard as nails

Bussiere 2011 Pinot Noir - starts a tad tart but really opens up, lightweight, crisp, just ripe, good stuff

Tonight:

Montesecondo 2010 Chianti Classico - another suave midweight wine, with a very typique chianti profile: juicy and red-fruited with a whiff of earth, excellent and I hope I can find more somewhere

I really like Silvio's wines. The simple Rosso Toscana is always a great value and quaffer, too.

I thought the Gouges was a 1997? I'm probably misremembering since you have the bottle.

The Bussiere was lovely, beautiful aromatics.

'96 and Gouges? You guys masochistic or what?
Village level. It was worth a shot.

Jay, yes, '96.

Is the worry that these bottles might never come around?

We had a 2003 Gouges Clos des Porrets on NYE last year that sung to us.

1997s are drinking very well (and the main reason I bought the auction lot this bottle came from). I'll give the 1996s in the box more time.

And I had a 99 a couple years back that didn't do anything for me, alas.
