Same here. I have not enjoyed later vintages very much, limiting my Montefalco drinking to Bea.

Back then in Italy, Bea was the "cheap stuff" and this was Caprai's attempt at a reserve. Actually, the regular bottling from Caprai was more accessible but I wanted to see if laying this down was worth it. And it was.
Now days, I too prefer Bea, although I can't afford it anymore.

interesting. I sold all my Caprai "25 Anni" riservas from the '90s a couple years ago, but I see 6 lonely bottles of the '97 regular in my inventory. maybe we should check in on it in 3 or 4 years.
