Technical Update

Comrades,

As has been noted, there is now a preview function for comments. The Wine Disorder People's Technical Services Commissariat is hard at work on extending this functionality to posts as well. If all goes as planned that should come on line fairly soon.

In light of recent events, the Politburo would also like to announce a new technical feature here on Wine Disorder. From this day forward, any post that uses the RTN: prefix will appear at the bottom of the chronological post list instead of the topin other words, at the bottom of what is now page fourteen of the main forum. Thus, we accommodate those who are generous enough to volunteer to place their older notes into our searchable archive, while keeping the front page free from being cluttered up with extensive reposting of old notes.

Once these posts are lodged at the bottom, however, they will behave as all other posts. So should any disorderly comrade wish to comment anew or post more recent impressions of the wines involved, the post will bump up to the top of the post list.

Heralding a glorious future through technology,

The Politburo

All Hail the People's Technical Services Commisariat!

The success of the Three Month Plan for a Preview Function heralds a new and glorious dawn for the Erisian people!

This opens us up to a variety of new and never before imagined post resurrection possibilities.

It's almost like culling Brads personal computer!

Sadly, yes. But I'm afraid it would crash the server should I try to repost it.

Plus, I only have the last 1522 posts. I think it went up to around 1640.

Yes, I have confirmed it with an expert. I asked Dr. Lisa, she told me it could cause neurological damage in potential viewers.

That's a completely different issue. You can always put a viewer beware warning, but still go ahead and post it.

What I have is an html-based copy of the 'quickview' function of the old WLDG. It's really, really long, and I think it's probably fragmentary, it's backwards (newer posts on top) and I have no idea what this forum's layout would do to it. You sure you want to see this?

Send a note to the Politburo and see if it'll work.

It won't post without the RTN: prefix, either. I'm assuming the forum code doesn't like the fact that I'm trying to put up the source code of a complete HTML page, headers and footers and all. Probably doesn't know what to make of it. I've got an email in to the Politburo, we'll see, but that's my guess.

It's probable that all it would take is a minor HTML cleanup (I've repurposed a few old things from the framey WLDG in the past), but I'm not touching that thing.

There are no frames, it's the old one-page 'quickview' mode, where the text gradually moved farther and farther to the right side of the screen and you eventually end up with one or two words per line.

But yeah, it would take some experimenting to find out what exactly was making this forum code choke on it.
