I was toting barges and lifting bales in the cellar. When I returned to the table there were four folks (strangers to me) sitting with a bunch of food and bottles. I popped one and they popped one:
Felsina 2009 Chianti Classico Riserva "Rancia" - harmonious acidity, clean and pure, I wish the mid-palate were a little fatter though
Cowan Cellars 2009 Syrah, Bennett Valley - transparent, lightweight on the palate, in fact unusually delicate, floral, but also a little shy
One of the couples was from Oregon so we started talking Oregon wines. Their tastes (e.g., Beaux Freres, Penner Ash, Bergstrom) run a bit bigger than mine. So, we cross-talked for a while (...I'd heard of 1 or 2 wineries they mentioned, they hadn't heard of any the ones I mentioned).
Then, they started pitching Washington State syrah, especially Reynvaan and their "Result of a Crush" project.
And then we switched to other topics, like how long it's going to take people to stop being rude with their mobile phones and how awful Donald Trump is.
