the end of an era. . . .art of eating is going digital only.
i have treasured having my art of eating hard copy to carry with me and read wherever i happen to be. which i do. and i re-read. printing it off a pdf file won't be the same. (plus i won't get around to doing that. and then there is the issue of binding.) the on-screen experience will make a mockery of the quality of the hard copy. the heft of the paper and the graphics i have learned to treasure more and more, as real hard-copy of anything worth a pinch of shit is rapidly becoming a thing of the past.
which brings me back to the mystery (to me at least) of (as publication has became profoundly cheaper and easier), how can the world of print medium periodicals no longer afford itself?[/quote
I agree wholeheartedly. This is the type of publication I think absolutely should be on paper. I can't imagine a PDF. I am very discouraged. With the guard to the crush catalog, you did have a good feel.

Are you obliged to give them a real one?originally posted by Peter Creasey:
Okay, this time they're asking for my credit card info so they can automatically renew...which I may not want to do with the electronic setup.
I believe I may pass on the whole process.

Maybe yes, maybe no
Reading online, yes, but it won't print nicely for me.originally posted by robert ames:
the pdf looks exactly the same to me as it used to in hard copy. and i've printed off the coffee and etna articles on regular white printer paper and they look just like pages out of the hard copy issues of old.
