TN: Baudry plus others

2012 Baudry Chinon Le Croix Boissee is tight, tight. But it is a pleasure, nonetheless, to drink a top wine that is designated as such by the soil and exposure and not the percentage of new barrels used. Hold.

1999 La Roche aux Moines Savennieres is also in a tough place but for different reasons. With a day of air some fine cocoa powder emerges among the honey and wax though the bottle never really gelled. Good with salt cod and potatoes but what isn't? This wine is on the shelves along with the '94--awesome--and the '92--not yet tasted. Along with d'Epire these are reliable, traditional Savennieres, just the way grandma used to make.

2013 Dashe Cellars Les Enfants Terribles Grenache drunk with non-geeks and I quote "This is from California? 'Cause sometimes those wines can be . . . too much. This is very good." And it was. Sunshine and mineral. Very easy to drink.

Hold, indeed. This is a very good vintage for Croix-Boissée. Although, to be fair, there isn't a vintage that I don't like.

It feels weird for me to be saying this to nathan but

Drink and hold.
