That comes from the hops.
 
A superb bottle of Mugneret-Gibourg Chaignots on Friday. It's 2004 in a sense that the mid-palate isn't as dominated by Pinot Noir sweetness as in most other vintages, but this also has the effect of bringing out other characteristics you get from dry extract, none off-putting. Definitely not green; more along the lines of "ripe vegetables" you'd get in the Right Bank in the old days when a significant percentage of CS was mixed in with CF and Merlot.
