What are you binge-watching this (or last) holiday weekend?

West Wing. Which is the same show as The Newsroom with a few names changed. I'm a sucker for both.

I also took a break from that today to catch a few hours of WeTV's House party. Damn, that show was really sharp for a few seasons, and Huge Laurie is just a pleasure to watch.

Mind of a Chef. The David Kinch episodes are good. Each individual episode is a bit short and sometimes superficial but the series as a whole work well.

He does a good American accent.

Couldn't disagree more. I couldn't watch "House," his "American" accent was so false and grating.

And I'd been a huge Hugh Laurie fan from back since "A Bit of Fry and Laurie."

He's funny and talented, but can't get the accent right.

We seem to disagree frequently. But a diversity of views is a sign of community strength - or would you see the matter differently?

Comic:

Review - This has to be the most brilliant, hilarious thing I've seen in memory. Andy Daly is pitch perfect. I binged it a few months ago; waiting a little and will watch again.

Silicon Valley - Props to Scott Reiner for recommending this series (written by Mike Judge); it is sharp and crass and on point and brilliant. "Sand Hill Shuffle," indeed.

Comedy Bang! Bang! - I hate this show, but I've watched the first 20 episodes. Scott Aukerman is weird and uncomfortable-making. And now I am an android zombie and I must continue to watch. Much admire the stylings of Reggie Watts.

Dramatic:

The Americans - Hands down. Reagan-era Soviet spies as middle American family. And in the best Brit-as-American accent category, Alison Wright's Martha. Zow.

Justified - I stopped watching a year and a half ago, but at last decided to catch up, and I am glad I did; have finished season 4 and begun on season 5. Smartest, bestest dialog. Elmore Leonard was a master, and the writers get his voice. Walton Goggins is something, as well.

Mad Men - Point barre.*

Also:

Last Week Tonight With John Oliver - Topical from the not topical. Dude is gold. Brilliance.

Drunk History - Our mascot show, no? It's well done and funny.

*ETA: I hate to say this**, but I have to: Jon Hamm's portrayal of the main character at breaking point in Big Sur in the last episode wrecked me into tears. Strong storytelling, strong writing and acting.

**('Cause, who cares? 'Cause everyone says it? Dunno; just nesting, hereabouts. Read on, fine friend.)
