Big Glou NYC

I remember Lee invited me to come do something in NY in February, and I had a bad cold at the time, and I said something about waiting to go back East when the tundra wasn't so icy, or words to that effect

When will you know the lineup of producers for each day?
I think that should be finalized shortly. I'll let you know when it is.

I was under the impression that it was the exact same lineup both days. Perhaps I did not look closely enough at the fine print, thanks.
That was the initial idea, but the list of producers got big enough that it proved impossible.

I highly recommend spending some time with the Enderle & Moll wines. The recent releases have all been stunning!

If Sven Enderle is present, he's also well worth spending some time talking to. I didn't get a chance to talk to Florian Moll long enough to be able to say one way or another. If they bring their various single vyd bottlings, it's most educational to taste the different between the Bundsandstein and the Muschelkalk bottlings.

Saturday at The Big Glou was amazing, with an electric atmosphere.

The Weiser-Künstler wines were brilliant, as usual, and Konstantin Weiser also poured an impressive sample of his 2015 Riesling, a vintage he was excited about. Agnès Foillard said their wines tend to close up annually around harvest time. I heard Elisabetta Foradori having a conversation with Eric Asimov about the importance of thinking about gardening as a wine producer. She referred to the way grapes used to be grown on a pergola with vegetables planted in the shade underneath, and to the resulting "community" of plants being very beneficial. Eric Texier was enthusiastic about the way his 2013 Côte-Rôtie - which wasn't being poured - was drinking now.

I liked how bottles of Saratoga water had been thoughtfully scattered around the tables.

Glad you enjoyed it! Lee and Guilhaume really knocked it out of the park.

I was experiencing massive fomo seeing all the pics on facebook. Glad I'm not on instagram or my head would have exploded.
