The inevitable

Florida Jim

Florida Jim
Tonight Diane and I drank a couple of wines knowing that tomorrow begins the fast.
It's not so much the discipline of it all but the knowledge that each day is precious.
We will do what we think is needed. And I'm sure we will both lose some weight and feel better. But these days, we weigh the cost not just the pounds.
Perhaps, in April, we will count the lost weight and think it a small price to pay. Then again, maybe we will see the lost enjoyment.
At almost 70 I have few illusions. And I am not as strict a taskmaster as I once was.
Report to follow . . .
Best, Jim

The fast?

Fasting for Lent must be a new thing. In my day we just gave up something we totally didn't mind giving up. "This year I shall give up CIRCUS PEANUTS for Lent!" :P

As old as the hills, but stricter than that. Some days do not even allow for olive oil :(

I'm two weeks in myself. Mostly for caloric reasons but also because between the holidays and my birthday, there was a lot of imbibing.

What I notice almost immediately is that meals become more about sustenance and much less about enjoyment.

Maybe you need a better chef!

We're not really going out. I mean, what's the point... ;-)
