A Truly Jarring Experience (Trimbach PB)

I recently took possession of three bottles of the 2013 Trimbach Pinot Blanc for everyday drinking. Last night I opened the second of those bottles and, for the second time, found that the wine was moderately corked. This would just be bad luck were it not for the fact that these wines are bottled under screwcap. So, do we have a case of systemic TCA contamination at Trimbach? I checked CT notes and no one else has reported this problem, but the "smell" of TCA is rather unmistakable for both myself and my wife.

I did experience a bottle of Austrian GV a few years ago that was corked and under screwcap. I can't recall which winery. It was with a few other people and there was no doubt about anyone thinking that it wasn't. Very weird.

I'm pretty sure that TCA and TBA have been found at wineries in treated wood, so perhaps not quite impossible for it to transfer to wine under screwcap.

there was a huge kerfuffle in bordeaux about 20 years ago or so from buildings that had been built with lumber treated with pentachloraphenol (or something like that). large quantities of wine lost to tca taint from the treated lumber.
