My trip to the Marche Aux Vins and Jura

It's been 7 years since I last went to the Marche Aux Vins in Ampuis. Time for a redux.

So, a friend and I traveled there and then spent a few days in The Jura. We visited Dom. Aviet, Berthet-Bondet, Labet, Pignier, and attended the Pressee du Vin de Paille in Arlay.

I have posted some pictures. (If you want to save yourself a bunch of clicking, try the "Roll" option.)

I have also posted my travelog and TNs (Rhone, Jura) here on WD, but, as before, I had to spoof the file extensions so to get them:click the link
ignore any error and download the file
remove the ".jpg" extension...and the resulting bunch of bits should be a PDF.

Of course I owe thanks to many people for a wonderful trip but, here, I want to call out two who especially helped to clarify things: Sharon Bowman, and Wink Lorch.

I followed the surgical directions and did a .jpgectomy, but Acrobat was unable to open the PDF files:

As far as I know, it's just (Mac) option-click and rename, (Windows) long-click and rename. I've just done it on my other computer and it worked fine. What browser did you use and how big is the file you got?

Mac Firefox. Zero bytes.

So, it did not really download the file. Can you download the file rather than open it? (On Windows, that would be a choice on the right-click menu instead of left-clicking.)

Ah, I just now recreated your problem: I did right-click, "Save link as...", chose a folder, removed the "jpg", and saved it. That gave me your zero-bytes problem.

So, instead, do just as above -- right-click + save as + choose folder -- but don't fidget with the file in the dialog window... just save it as a JPG; once it is on your hard-drive, go rename it

Oh, for those looking at the notes, I should do a quick review of my scoring system for walkaround events: it's a -3 to +3 scale, anything 2.5+ is worth having and even some 2s are, too.

(If you need the longer version of the explanation, go back to my earlier Marche post.)

Jeff! I read you in the afternoon yesterday, and the travelogue is a thing of delight. I went along, wishing I could cite it and intersperse my thoughts, because there were so many things where I wanted to nudge or tug a sleeve and say, "Hey, yeah," and chime in or chorus along.

Such a great trip to take with you, and many thanks for sharing.

It's all a thing of delight. The pictures are soul renewing. My envy is boundless. Thank you so much Jeff. I am a Detroit boy, homesick for Europe now.
