The kindness of neighbors

We don't get to spend much time in Portland, but it is always nice when we do. Today, however, was especially vinously surprising. Our building had a somewhat impromptu happy hour in the lobby. We met a few nice people, but not the neighbor who contributed two bottles of 2010 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc.
Only one was opened, and by the time we got there, there was still 1/4 bottle left. When I remarked that it was delicious and a pretty special wine, our HOA president (to whom the donor had entrusted the rest of the bottle) asked me to take it home, as she doesn't drink wine.

It is a superb version of young white Bordeaux. All white flowers and cathedral wax and acidity enough to etch glass.

Thank you whoever you are, neighbor.

The neighbor is a true chevalier. Or chevalieresse. Or chevalierette.

Probably "dame" is the word you are looking for.

There ain't nothing like a neighbor who brings 2010 Dom. de Chevalier Blanc to happy hour.

If one had a bottle of the '94, would it be ready to drink now? Dead? Shut down?

It's a great wine. You could drink now. You could probably wait another 10 years. I'd throw it into a decanter if drinking now, savor slowly, expect it to be be fresher and more playful with a couple hours of air but you can monitor that. Personally I'd save at least a third of a bottle for day 2 (and day 3).
