We don't get to spend much time in Portland, but it is always nice when we do. Today, however, was especially vinously surprising. Our building had a somewhat impromptu happy hour in the lobby. We met a few nice people, but not the neighbor who contributed two bottles of 2010 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc.
Only one was opened, and by the time we got there, there was still 1/4 bottle left. When I remarked that it was delicious and a pretty special wine, our HOA president (to whom the donor had entrusted the rest of the bottle) asked me to take it home, as she doesn't drink wine.
It is a superb version of young white Bordeaux. All white flowers and cathedral wax and acidity enough to etch glass.
Thank you whoever you are, neighbor.
