Sharon Bowman
A fantastic writer and wine drinker; his words and turns of phrase will be sorely missed.
Shocked that he lived to 78, with health problems including diabetes and so forth. Read just now that his wife of over 50 years died last fall; that'll definitely take the wind out of your sails.
I still have the original New Yorker in which the 37-course lunch piece appeared.
It's a great read.
"Is there an interior logic to overeating, or does gluttony, like sex, wander around in a messy void, utterly resistant to our attempts to make sense of it?"
