TN: In the cellar with work mates. (May 12, 2016)

Tracy is leaving the company so we pull a few corks to send her off happy. Buon Italia and Dickson's do their parts, too.

No notes at the table so from memory:

Pepiere 2013 Muscadet "Clos des Briords" - crisp and gorgeous, I might need to find more of this

Berthet-Bondet 2014 "Trio" - blend of the three lightweight red grapes, nice table wine, a revelation for the white-only drinkers

Pistone, Luigi 1958 Barolo Riserva - decanted and given 15 minutes of air, the nose is pretty: gently stewy fruit cup with some red fruit thrown in; the entry and mid-palate are similarly lovely: fine velvety tannins, a bouquet of flowers; alas, the finish is old tin can, but overall a nice bottle

Cowan Cellars 2012 Rose of Pinot Noir, North Coast - a little age has made this even more savory and tasty

Rollin 2007 Pernand-Vergelesses 1er "Les Fichots" - pure and crisp, but very tight; don't open any more of these for a couple years

The next day, with a farewell pizza lunch at work:

Inman Family 2007 Pinot Noir "Olivet Grange Vineyard" - age has served this well, this has more finesse and more savory qualities than it did when young

-----

And, entirely separately, a bottle opened last Saturday that I did not revisit until five days later:

Gonon 2006 St-Joseph Rouge - not the VV; Day 1: was this bottled yesterday? not a day has passed inside this bottle, still young and pure and tight; Day 5: showing a little bit of green olives on top of the tannins, yum but how long do I have to wait for more development?
