Sad news from NC

I haven't been in NC since the end of 2015, so maybe my memory is fading. But for my youngish legs, parking behind Rue Cler would not be a big deal if it meant that I could get my precious wine!

But, yes, that does sound annoying, especially with rushed schedules. And I know there is a much broader set of clients you need to address. Sorry to hear that it went this way, and also sorry to hear that some other favorites are hurting for the same reason.

You're not going to make that walk with a case of wine, are you? That's 0.5 mile. Not undoable, but not comfortable even for youngish backs (legs are the easy part).

Bar Luscioni is closed.

Mateo is fine, but the parking situation makes Matt crazy.

I have parked that far from Taureau and walked with a case of wine, although who knows how much longer I will be able to do that. And beyond my personal idiosyncrasies I do see how it is a problem for the broader public.

Tough stuff. So sorry about the whole thing.

Not really my experience. But I suspect we go there at different times.

I never spent more than 10 min looking for parking during the day. Less than 2 min at night going to restaurants around there or shows. Anyway, Noel always rolled shit out on the hand truck so you never had to carry anything.

I was going to joke that the locals could bring hand trucks, but of course hadn't realized that the reverse might obtain (though could be prohibitively worky when using it for a large number of customers?).

Selection Massale is getting out of the retail/mailing list side of the business.

I cried a little bit when I heard this. Some of their imports have become every year buys for me.
Jerome Lenoir Chinon I cannot do without, it is my ideal version of Chinon. I love Baudry too but they are different animals. I buy both of them.

I suspect Beurer riesling would be in this category but I am still learning with these. Also I am in love with the 08 Jaugeuyron Haut Medoc. I would love to find more from this winery. Just seems like a classic, no frills Bordeaux. Dupasquier is another must buy for me.

Anyway yesterday I did a search for Lenoir Chinon and there is a shop in Portland that has the 06 and 07 at a really inexpensive price, I ordered 6 of each. If you are interested send me a PM.

If anyone has a source to buy Beurer, Dupasquier, or Jaugeuyron I would love to hear about it.

Again -- Selection Massale will still import all of those wines and you'll still be able to buy them at retail. Chambers Street buys all four you mentioned, although they sell through and aren't always in stock. For other stores, check out the Selection Massale web page, where there is a list.

Thanks Jim.

I did look through the web page at SM for purveyors and found it was mostly a list of restaurants with a few small shops and retailers included. The one in Portland wasn't on the list. I am going to speak with some of my local wine shops and see if they will have access to the wines up here in WA state.

Marc, if you send Cory an e-mail, I bet he can help with info too.
