we could also plan a trip to Faviken that starts in Oslo (train north or plane) then drive east to Sweden . . .

Absolutely. It's an eight hour drive from Oslo, but under three from Trondheim.

Absolutely. It's an eight hour drive from Oslo, but under three from Trondheim.

Correct. You drive from Trondheim (which incidentally has a great gastropub/natural wine bar.)
