Just me:
Brovia 2005 Barolo "Garblet Sue" - Immediately on pouring: cranberry and kirsch, definitely still tannic but not rudely scratchy, some sweetness in the mid-palate, a friendly and easy-going wine today (not a wine of thrust or quinine). Day 2, essentially the same wine. Day 5, the last glass, is getting skimpy and bony (so drink sooner!).
A pleasant bottle but not an earth-shaker.
---
Just two of us, off the list at a restaurant:
F.X. Pichler 2012 Loibner Burgstall Riesling Federspiel - well-balanced among acidity, extract, and fruit; smoky and crisp on the palate; great with assorted tapas plates (largely seafood and vegetables)
Alta Alella NV Cava Privat - organic, 15 months on its lees, zero dosage, it's a lean wine, good for a warm day or as a tongue tonic after medium-weight but oily food
---
Four of us for a little celebration:
Wagner-Weritz 1976 Erbacher Honigberg Riesling Spatlese #13 - dead
Von Winning 2009 Riesling GG "Kalkofen" - acidity a bit reduced but it has survived its time in oak barrels pretty well
Raphet, J 1993 Charmes-Chambertin GC - lightweight, elegant, only moderately interesting
Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern 1971 Erbacher Marcobrunn Riesling Auslese (33045 008 72) - dead, sweet though
Margarethenhof (G. Bunn) 1986 Niersteiner Klostergarten Ortega BA - older and sweeter, one might wish for greater complexity
The first four came from WineBid. Two dead out of four is pretty disappointing.
