Edmunds St. John 2005 Syrah "Wylie-Fenaughty" - Day 1: twelve years old but tastes as if bottled yesterday: bright acidity and vigorous grapey fruit; Day 5: slightly tamer on all fronts, flavor profile heading towards (but not quite at) earthy and plummy-blue fruits, maybe some glimmer of olives and pork yet to come, a fair amount of sediment, too; delicious, though, to judge by this bottle, one might move the drinking window out another 10 years
ETA (July 3):
Riviere O 2012 Rioja "Idem Gabacho" - crisp, pure, gentle red fruits and dust, better than the 2010 not as good as the 2008
Schafer-Frolich 2007 Bockenauer Felseneck Riesling Spatlese GK - I only got a wee taste but it was zingy, minerally, and yet also kinda plush, too, yum
