Grongnet Champagne Extra Brut "Carpe Diem" - disg. 2015, oxidative style, maybe not assertive but somewhat forward, many people beg off it
Courtin Champagne Extra Brut Rose "Indulgence" - disg or vint?, austere, minerally, yum
Dauvissat 2013 Chablis 1er "La Forest" - bright, vivid yellow fruit almost obscures the chalk and seashells
Luneau-Papin 1995 Muscadet "Le L d'Or" - a little waxy but otherwise tasted rather more like chablis than the chablis did
Trimbach 1989 Riesling VT "Cuvee Frederic Emile" - lovely, mature
Adam 2014 Dhron Riesling Kabinett - very good, lime-leaf, reminds a little of Donnhoff

Gouges 1997 Nuits-St-Georges "Les Vaucrains" - good but others like this bottle more than I did
Guion 2014 Bourgueil "Cuvee Prestige" - eh, lacks energy
Chateau Clos de la Philberdière 1969 Bourgueil - the very last bronze leaf of autumn but it still tasted like cab franc
La Mission Haut-Brion 1985 Graves - vividly and horrendously corked
Pichon-Lalande 1989 Pauillac - excellent
Jadot 1997 Beaune 1er "Clos des Ursules" - bretty?

Moulin-Touchais 1959 Coteaux du Layons - did not taste

For Don: It's called a lithophone.
 
I remember the Adam now. I did not have the M-T. (I did not have pen and paper so notes are of mixed quality without some assistance. Thank you for some assistance.) Oh, two champagnes!
 
So how was the '59 Moulin-Touchais? I recall seeing several lots of it at auction for reasonable price a few years back, but didn't bite despite it being a birth-year wine.

You made the right choice. Moulin touchais is never really exciting.
 
Was the Jadot an '89? I had it as a '97, but I may have been looking at the Gouges. I didn't get any Brett from it, but it did show some greenness along with bright red fruit and spice.
 
Oh, another one. I think the Guion was a '13. I passed. When I picked it up and asked Don how it was, he gave me an "eh" with a squinched up face and that's a pretty clear sign that I need not try it. That's a pretty damning reaction for a Cab Franc from Don.
 
The Guion was the '14 Prestige - liked it, but it didn't excite me. A bit disappointing as I've liked a few other '14 Loire reds a lot more.

I had a strong lactic note on the nose which is always a turnoff for me.
