TN: Two summery whites

2013 Pascal Pibaleau, Nobelesse d'Aziaum, Azay Le Rideau - The internet alleges this is barrel aged chenin blanc. I'll assume old barrels as this bottle is not at all marked by wood. Really pretty nose of wax and honey, yellow flowers and stones, all the beautiful things. Dry, light in the mouth and very alive with firm acids lingering on forever. Just a lovely, delicate bottle of chenin. And it's only like 16 bucks. Great antidote to the East Coast heat wave. 94 pts.

2014 Andre et Michel Quenard, Chignin Vieilles Vignes, Savoie - Going to guess this is altesse but I'm not sure. Honied lees in the nose, rich and rocky in the mouth. Enough acidity and structure to hold it all together but this is super friendly and way to easy to drink. Delicious, honest wine. 93 pts. (plastic cork).

Best,
Kay

Thanks. Always nice to hear about new chenin options, although when I go to the internet it appears that it is not so new. It must just be me.

Also nice to have a counterpoint to Denis for Azay Le Rideau.
