A nice variety of wines this afternoon.
Haut-Bailly 2000 Pessac-Leognan - we had a lot of trouble determining that this was Bordeaux!, I’m very favorably taken with a wine that doesn’t shout cassis and tobacco at me
Dom. Labet 2011 Cotes du Jura "Cuvee du Hasard" - I guess I’m the only one who likes this, basically old vines chardonnay under voile for 4 years (so not quite all the way to Vin Jaune), this is fruity and nutty but a little less assertive in its oxidative organoleptics
Luis Pato 1995 Bairrada "Vinha Pan" - another one that nobody could place... guesses all over the place (Rhone, central Italy, etc.) because, well, we’re not very familiar with Baga; this is nice: dark fruits, wet earth, rough tannins that have settled-down a bit
Il Colle 1988 Brunello di Montalcino - dull
J. Haart 2015 Piesporter Schubertslay Riesling Kabinett - excellent, bright, hint of sweetness, love it
H. Bonneau 2000 Chateauneuf-du-Pape - the normale, spoiled
I wrote these up quite late so I may have forgotten a thing or two. Did the Brunello ever improve?
